Ginn sur Mer Classic

PGA TOUR’S GINN sur Mer CLASSIC, OCT. 27-NOV. 2,
ARRIVES AT THE CONSERVATORY FOR YEAR TWO

DANIEL CHOPRA TO DEFEND INAUGURAL GINN CLASSIC TITLE;
ADVANCE TICKETS (AS LOW AS $10), PRO-AM AND VOLUNTEER SPOTS AVAILABLE

PALM COAST, FLA., August xx, 2008 – The second-annual Ginn sur Mer Classic will be played Oct. 27-Nov. 2 at the Ginn Hammock Beach Conservatory Course. The $4.6 million, PGA TOUR-sanctioned event will be televised all four days on Golf Channel from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. ET.

Daniel Chopra claimed his first PGA TOUR title at last year’s Ginn sur Mer Classic – his 133rd PGA TOUR start – by braving the wet weekend conditions for a final score of 19-under-par 273 and a Monday morning, one-shot victory over Fredrik Jacobsen and Shigeki Maruyama. This year’s winner will receive a check for $828,000.

Ginn Classic tournament week is comprised of the popular Ginn Classic Pro-Am on Wednesday, Oct. 29 and the ensuing four days of competition (Thursday-Sunday) at the par-72, 7,663-yard Conservatory. Saturday’s third round will be themed Florida-Georgia Day as fans are encouraged to show their support for their team in this year’s SEC football classic.

The Ginn sur Mer Classic, in its second year on the PGA TOUR schedule, has moved to Palm Coast, a community whose strong tie to golf lends toward making the sequel even more successful than the original. Fans have plenty of incentive to act now as tickets, Oct. 29 Pro-Am spots and volunteer opportunities for the Ginn sur Mer Classic are available.

“This year’s Ginn sur Mer Classic looks to be the most successful yet, from a raise in its purse and winner’s prize to playing at the Conservatory and providing the Palm Coast community with a second professional golf tournament,” Tournament Director John Subers said. “Now that the Ginn Classic has established itself on the PGA TOUR, the tournament can be taken to another level through fan and community support. The Palm Coast is a hotbed for golf and fans have plenty of avenues to enjoy the PGA TOUR experience, be it through spectating, volunteering or playing with a pro in the Pro-Am.”

Tickets are available by calling the tournament office at 386-246-6700 or going online to www.ginnclassic.com. Good Any Day tickets begin as low as $10, but only if fans purchase them online before Oct. 1. Daily tickets are $20 when purchased in advance of the tournament after Oct. 2 and are $25 at the gate during tournament week. Children under 18 receive free admission to the tournament.

The best fan bargain is the Weekly Grounds Badge ($40 in advance, $50 at the gate), a grounds-only pass for all of tournament week, Wednesday-Sunday.

Another ticket option is the Houligan’s Champions Club ticket, which allows grounds access for the entire tournament week and admission into Houligan’s Champions Club Thursday-Sunday from 10 a.m. until the completion of play each day. Each ticket includes three beverage coupons, one basket of World Famous Wally Wings (or comparable specialty menu item), and your name listed on the Houligan’s sponsor sign at the Champions Club entrance.

Golf fans who think they have real game can test their mettle and enjoy the unforgettable experience of playing in the Ginn Classic Pro-Am. Each player gets a spot in a foursome with a PGA TOUR pro, a contestant badge and contestant guest badge that guarantees grounds access for tournament week, a Pro-Am parking pass for the day of the event, an invitation for two to the Tuesday, Oct. 28 Pro-Am Draw Party and a tee gift package. Cost is $3,500 per person or $9,000 for a three-person team.

Pro-Am Resort Packages, which includes the Pro-Am package as well as a two-night (Oct. 28 & 29) stay in a three-bedroom suite at the Ginn Hammock Beach Resort, are also available for $10,000. Pro-Am information is available by contacting Mark Gerling at 386-246-6714 or mgerling@ginncompany.com.

Volunteering is an up-close and personal manner to be involved at the Ginn Classic. For a $45 donation to Community Charities, Inc., which supports local charities, volunteers are asked to work a minimum of 15 hours during tournament week, although many work more hours. There is a variety of ways to volunteer, from operating ShotLink equipment to gallery control, hospitality, ambassador, security, scoring and operations activities.

Each volunteer receives a golf shirt, a choice of a cap or visor, a volunteer badge that guarantees admission for all seven days, a volunteer parking pass, lunch vouchers on workdays and five Good Any Day tickets to the tournament. Volunteers are asked to wear khaki shorts or khaki slacks. Interested parties can contact Tournament Services Manager Terri Perry at 386-246-6704 or tperry@ginncompany.com.

About the Ginn Hammock Beach Conservatory Course
The Conservatory Course, designed by a 12-time major championship winner, is sure to be a golf experience that will challenge all levels of players. Watson employed six tee settings on every hole, with the tips stretching all the way back to a dizzying 7,663 yards, an innovative move for a game in which advancements are shortening courses every day.

A perfect example of this diversity is the picturesque 17th hole, an island par 3 with a bailout area to the right that measures from 75 yards all the way back to 168 yards.

Watson also used large greens – some measuring 50 yards deep – unique mounding, 140 coquina-shell and white-sand bunkers, nearly 76 acres of man-made lakes and two Carolina-style creeks to not only deepen the aesthetic but also the golfing experience. And the five-time British Open winner couldn’t help but throw in three sod-faced bunkers typical of traditional links-style courses.

The whole experience is anchored by the 44,000-square-foot, one-of-a-kind, glass-domed clubhouse that displays an aptly-placed nature conservatory.

“My philosophy in designing and overseeing the construction of a golf course revolves around one and only one desired result,” said Watson, who believes The Conservatory will soon be regarded as one of the top courses in Florida. “The course must leave the golfer wanting to return.”
